Life, as we know it, is a struggle. Everyone is fighting their battles, even the ones who seem to be smiling at all times, the ones who are always nice to you.
We’ve gotten so used to working so hard and fighting to have what we think we deserve, that when something good comes to us with less effort, we tend to take them for granted. Even people, the nice ones, who always listen to you patiently, and when you don’t acknowledge them, still do not express feelings of bitterness or resentment. Being taken for granted takes away the sense of meaning in existence, and to be nice to someone means to be open to this vulnerability of being taken for granted, not being seen and accepted for who you are, and to live with that without resentment is the price you must pay to be nice. Being nice comes with a price!
